Yesterday, a massive new Applebee's opened in Coney Island, New York. And there's already BLOOD ON ITS HANDS.
The Applebee's has a massive 20-foot, 5,000-gallon aquarium inside. And on Friday, as they were preparing to open, they decided to add a blacktip SHARK to the tank. And it's clear this shark wasn't ready to be social.
Because right after he got in the tank, he immediately went on a KILLING SPREE.
The shark killed and ate three fish called Lookdown fish. So the owners got him out of there and shipped him off to an aquarium. He'd cost them $4,000 to buy, and the three fish he ate were worth about $300 each.
And that wasn't the only shark problem in the tank on Friday. A whitetip shark swam headfirst into a plastic model Ferris wheel inside the tank and died.
The owner of the Applebee's says clearly the sharks weren't ready to be put in the aquarium. Quote, "They went from being in an ocean to being in a tank. They were all disoriented. [They] were in shock."
